An image can be edited directly on a page<\/a> as well as in the Media library in list view or in the grid view. Editing an image on the page directly will only affect the image on that page, whereas editing an image in the Media Library will affect the image as it appears on all pages on the website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To edit in the media library open the Media Library by clicking on Media > Library in the Administration Menu. The steps for editing an image are slightly different if your media library is using the\u00a0list view<\/a>\u00a0versus the\u00a0grid view<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choosing an Image to Edit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Click the \u201cedit\u201d link that appears below the image title.<\/p>\n\n\n

This will open the Media Edit page.<\/p>\n\n\n

Select \u201cEdit Image\u201d to open editor.<\/p>\n\n\n

Cropping, rotating and flipping an image can be done using the toolbar.<\/p>\n\n\n

Resize an Image<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Use the \u201cScale Image\u201d box to resize an image. Enter exact image dimensions in the \u201cScale Image\u201d box to alter the image size. Images can only be scaled down from their original size, not up. Scaling the image should be done before other editing tasks, such as cropping and rotating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crop an Image<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To crop an image, click and drag on the image to select a section of the image. Adjust the field by dragging the sides of the section to the desired size. Or use the Image Crop section to insert exact dimensions. Then click the \u201cCrop\u201d button in the toolbar and save the changes.<\/p>\n\n\n

Rotate an Image<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To rotate an image, use the left or right rotation buttons in the toolbar. Then save the changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flip an Image<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To flip an image, use the vertical or horizontal flip buttons in the toolbar. Then save the changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thumbnail Settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When an image is edited, the thumbnail is edited by default as well. To edit only the thumbnail and not the other locations of this image, select Apply changes to: \u201cThumbnail\u201d within the \u201cThumbnail Settings\u201d box before saving. Select the \u201cAll sizes but thumbnail\u201d option to apply changes to every image besides the thumbnail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revert an Image<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After saving edits to an image, the image can be reverted by opening the editor again. If the image has been altered and the changes were saved, a \u201cRestore Original Image\u201d box will appear under the \u201cScale Image\u201d box.<\/p>\n\n\n

Clicking \u201cRestore Image\u201d will revert the image to its original appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select the thumbnail for the image to open the \u201cAttachment details\u201d page.<\/p>\n\n\n

Selecting the \u201cEdit more details\u201d link will open the Media Editor described in the list view instructions<\/a>. Selecting the \u201cEdit image\u201d button will open a similar editor in the Grid-view.<\/p>\n\n\n
