\n\tCCT Alum Tianyi Cheng recently presented research on Social Networks in Hospital Settings at Harvard University Business School’s Open and User Innovation Conference.  Since graduating from CCT, Tianyi has worked with CCT Lecturer Nicole Fernandez and a research team from MedStar \/ Virginia Tech on identifying patient care networks in ICUs. This research aims to leverage the insights of hospital team members to improve patient safety and optimize diffusion of strategies.  Tianyi arrived at a key insight while working on the project: Focus Group members should be selected not simply based on high connectivity but based on the diversity of their connections across the network.  The focus group has an intuitive coverage measure based on what proportion of the network is within one step.  A computational strategy called Structural Uniqueness was developed by Tianyi and is illustrated in the below poster.  <\/p>\n
