Work for CETS

CETS Classroom Services and CETS Event Services both need bright, dependable graduate or undergraduate student workers to fulfill their missions. Each Fall and Spring Semesters, CETS will hire or re-hire 15-25 student workers for both divisions, who are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours a week, and a maximum of 20 hours per week.

  • During Summer and during certain breaks and intersessions, domestic student assistants may be able to work up to 40 hours per week.
  • International students are limited to 20 hours per week of work year round.
  • The 20- and 40- hour limits apply to ALL of a student’s employment by GU departments or entitites. If, during the Fall Term, a student works for 12 hours a week at GU Department A, she can only work 8 additional hours per week at GU Department B.
  • CETS Student worker employees (as all Gu student employees) are hourly employees, not elligible for overtime, paid time off, sick leave, or employee benefits.
  • Work Hours:
    • Classroom Services student assistants usually work a fixed schedule every week during the term (excluding holidays or breaks), and all student schedules expire during Study Days and Final Exams.
    • Event Services student assistants may have a mix of fixed assignments (ICC Auditorium classes) and vairable assignments (all other assignments) in any given week. Event Services prepares a 3-4 week staffing schedule every Tuesday evening showing each student assignment and the hours of that assignment.
    • Neither division of CETS will schedule a student worker during the time of her semester classes, nor any other expressed non-work (e.g. Sunday AM for religious services).
    • Student workers must notify their managers- as far in advance as possible – about any academic or other reason they cannot work any particular shifts. For sudden absences (escept for illness or injury) CETS may ask the student to find a subsitute from among the othert student workers.
