Youth and Family Advisory Council Application

The ideal applicant will have the following experiences, skills, and qualities: 

  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Has previous or current juvenile justice involvement (i.e., aftercare, detention, incarceration, parole probation, and/or residential placement.) and/or interested in juvenile justice reform.
  • Be a family member of someone with previous or current juvenile justice involvement (i.e., aftercare, detention, incarceration, parole probation, and/or residential placement.)
  • Able to work well with others; and 
  • Eager to learn. 

Selected council members are expected to participate in monthly one-hour virtual meetings, respond timely to all emails, phone calls, or text messages from Council Facilitators, CJJR staff, and fellow committee members, and follow through on any commitments made in support of the Center for R/RED. 

While optional, council members will be given the opportunity to participate in all training and technical assistance events offered by the Center. 

Members are encouraged to attend all monthly meetings but are expected to attend at least 75 percent annually. Repeated absences may result in removal from the Council.

This is a paid position with an hourly rate of $35 an hour. Members may bill for a maximum of three hours per month.

Once we begin accepting applications, check back here to download application materials as well as the submission link. Applicants must submit their application materials online via Submittable. If you would prefer, a printable version will be available. If you choose to complete the printed application, you must email a scanned copy to Amiyah Davis at Ald150@georgetown.edu by the application deadline.

A limited number of applicants will be selected for an interview during the review process. If selected for an interview, applicants will be notified by the Review Committee, via email and/or telephone. Interviews will be held subsequently.
