This page demonstrates several different ways you can present students (or alumni) on your website. A program may decide if and students and alumni will be presented on their website.

Opening Considerations

Keep these considerations in mind when deciding how to present students (or alumni):

Page or Posts?

One key decision is whether you want to present your students on a Page (which here can also mean part of a larger page, e.g., Current Students), or create separate WordPress Posts for each of your students.

Presenting students on a Page in static form – whether a simple list, a grid, or in dropdowns – is simpler and more concise. If you’re just looking to list each cohort of your students, a Page is a good option.

Creating Posts for students allows you to really show off your students and their successes. They can accommodate much more information, such as photos, testimonials and stories. They can be presented in a Posts feed on their own Page or as part of a larger Page (e.g., homepage, Current Students, Alumni Outcomes). However, Posts take longer to create and set up properly for a feed. Consider how many students you will have to create Posts for, and how often the Posts will need to be updated.

A compromise option is to present a list of students on a Page, and link from students’ entries to personalized Posts as needed (without configuring a Posts feed). Again, creating Posts for individual students comes with a commitment to maintaining them.

BGE recommendations

The following are offered as suggestions, to be considered in the context of program capacity and goals. BGE can help with setup, but the program is ultimately responsible for ensuring that lists, Posts, etc. are monitored and maintained over time.

List (Page)

Ideal for listing students with very brief information (e.g., contact info, a link to an external profile).

Info Grid (Page)

Ideal for listing students with some information (e.g., research interests, contact info). Challenges: Needs not too much, not too little information to look right; if using headshots, they must be cropped manually to 16×9 to display correctly; if only some students have headshots, you will need to add blank 16×9 images for students without headshots. Recommended to either have headshots for everyone, or for no one.

Thesis Research: Pre-thesis

Research Interests: Ion Channels, Neuropharmacology, Electrophysiology. I am intrigued to apply electrophysiology and learn distinct assays to investigate specific mechanisms of action that could allow the possibility to create novel therapeutic treatments for neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and Epilepsy.

Education: Northeastern University, M.S. Pharmacology, 2023; Southern Utah University, B.S. Biology, 2021

Prior Research: At Northeastern University, I worked in the laboratory of Dr. Diomedes Logothetis on the mechanism by which Protein Kinase C alpha modulates the G protein gated potassium channel in the heart using Two-Electrode voltage clamp technique. I participated in Dr. Lara Milane Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory to evaluate treatment efficacy to Breast Cancer Cell Line with the application of Rhodamine and Gold nanoparticles with Verapamil. I worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital under Dr. Jorge Rodriguez to conduct primary qualitative data collection with end users to define the patient perspectives of telemedicine use with a focus on video visits. The work focuses on identifying the facilitators and barriers to telemedicine, specifically video visits for patients with diabetes.

Rotations: Dr. Tinatin Brelidze, Dr. Gerard Ahern
