Caren Sobier is the Director of Student Employment at Georgetown University since 2015. In her role, she oversees all aspects of hourly student employment as well as the Federal Work-Study Program, Common $ense Financial Literacy Program, and the Job Location Development Program. Originally, from New York, Caren received her master’s degree in Human Resources & Labor Relations from New York Institute of Technology and worked as the Assistant Director of Student Employment/Career Services for 9 years. She also was active in serving as a Professional Development Consultant for the Dispute Resolution Institute of New York.

Caren has served in several leadership roles through the National Student Employment Association (NSEA) and recognized as a Student Employment Essentials (SEE) Trainer. In additional to her time prepping students for the world of work, she also runs the Social Engagement Board in the Office of Student Financial Services (OSFS) where she oversees & plans events for staff/employee engagement.

Gina Hart is the Associate Director of the Student Employment Office (SEO) and co-director of Common $ense, Georgetown’s financial literacy program. Prior to these roles, she was Director of Finance and Business Services in the Office of Student Financial Services. She also served as Assistant Director of Finance and Administration in the Master of Science in Foreign Service Program in the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University. She has a master’s in International Relations and enjoys reading up on world history, international politics, and foreign affairs. She loves to travel and enjoys the outdoors –running and biking on the W & OD trail. She has a son – Alex and a black pug named Igor.

Jenny Thurau became an Assistant Director of the Student Employment Office in March 2018. Jenny transitioned to the Student Employment Office from the Office of Student Financial Services where she had been since October 2016 with a role in Client Services as a Financial Aid Officer. In her current role, Jenny assists with the hiring process from start to finish for students on and off campus with the assistance of HR and other various departments around campus, verifying previous employment of students, and transitioning students between jobs at Georgetown University.

Originally from Wisconsin, Jenny received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art with a concentration in Graphic Design from the University of Wisconsin. After graduation, Jenny moved to Kansas to be closer to her family, and then here to Washington DC with her husband. Jenny is finishing up her MA in Management and Leadership with a concentration in Cybersecurity.
